Dear Colleagues,
In the never ending quest to provide unnecessary software, we thought you
might not want another hipo file viewer. And so we have provided one. This
one is more or less the "current event view" extracted from *ced* into a
new stand-alone three-letter application, *hev*.
You can get it here:
https://userweb.jlab.org/~heddle/hev/builds/hev-2022-10-08.tar.gz
After extraction cd to the hevbuild dir.
You can launch it three ways. Two are reliable:
1) bash hev.sh.
1.a) alternative: chmod +x hev.sh, then invoke
2) java -jar hev.jar
The third way, the success of which depends on the vagaries of your OS, is
to double click hev.jar.
It looks like (after you open a hipo file, not included) the pic below.
Unlike the extant ced (but like the next ced release) it only shows the
banks in the event, rather than all the banks in the recorded history of
hipo banks. So there is no familiar-to-ced-users sea of ghosted labels on
the right, only active red labels.
As in ced:
a) click on a column name in the main table to see, in the area on the
left, the contents of the column.
b) double click on a red label on the right to do a deep dive of the bank
in another window, as in REC:Scintillator shown below.
The ability to stream the file is for the "Define" menu, in which you can
make some histograms and plots, which I doubt will ever be used. But all
good applications have useless features.
This is quite beta. If anyone actually uses this, please report bugs and
even feature requests.
Cheers,
dh
