Dear All,
We have implemented important fixes in gemc, to address issues affecting version 5.4 (generated RF signal time inconsistent with event start time) and 5.5 (raster distribution not uniform in xy). The new, recommended gemc version is 5.7.
As of now, gemc versions 5.4 and 5.5 are officially deprecated. If you attempt to load these versions, you will see a printout warning indicating their deprecation.
The default version of gemc, loaded as part of the common CLAS12 environment will be changed from 5.4 to 5.7 tomorrow, April 13 . We recommend using this version for optimal functionality and stability. Note that gcards will have to be updated switching from 5.4 to 5.7. Refer to GitHub.com/JeffersonLab/clas12-config to get the correct gcard or see the differences.
Please be aware that the corresponding modules for gemc 5.4 and 5.5 will be permanently removed on Wednesday, April 17. After this date, they will no longer be available for use.
The current version of gemc on the OSG was patched with the RF fix. If you used the rastering options the xy distribution would not be correct.
GEMC 5.7 is being tested on OSG and the portal will be updated within a few days with the new release.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
Regards,
Raffa, Nathan and Mauri
