Until the switch to the older container is completed and the problem is resolved, please do not submit new jobs via the portal.

Hi all,

During the last update of the OSG software we switched to a new Almalinux9 container - mainly so that we’d have the same code running on OSG and on the new CUE machines.

It was discovered that Almalinux9 requires specific and relatively new (2008) architecture instructions. Many CPUS on OSG are not so new. This causes many jobs to fail, and that is why currently many jobs are going to HOLD.

So we decided to switch back to the Fedora36 container. We anticipate the switch in the next couple of days. After the switch, new submissions should not have these problems.
