Dear CLAS12zians,

There are two new versions of ced available. Both use coatjava12.0.3t. I
don't know what the 't' stands for, but I like it so I am going to mimic
it. Both have behind the scenes updates and enhancements to the ALERT
display. So, what's the diff?

Version 1.8.3t is for traditionalists. You can download 1.8.3 here:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_bddfp283&d=DwIBaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=ksXCggyx2kGqTeH2KpG4S8jBYrhOvwbmrrV7D_DqVTw&m=MjX64CRpJ6mNM3FqFuaDPdkTJWYB9kiqP9nqPcaO0YJRBWWSZlkIztBjzdmVKbkW&s=fxI47RriX4dbntzlDOCps4SSdFoRRGMQXX83fH4_8xI&e=

Version 1.9.3t is for the adventurous. You will notice a big difference at
startup beginning with the second time you run ced. That's because the
first time you run it, it will behave just like 1.8.3t, but it is secretly
caching the geometry, so the second time and subsequent times you run it it
will not go over the network and beg ccdb for geometry, it will (assuming
it works) use the cache, resulting in a much faster startup. This is
especially beneficial to those who are offsite, and those who are
legitimately concerned that a tariff might be placed on
database connections. It will redo the cache (at least in theory) when you
get a new ced version. You can also manually delete the cache file, which
will be named geometry.cache and can be found in the cache directory of
cedbuild.

You can download 1.9.3t here: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_382nm975&d=DwIBaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=ksXCggyx2kGqTeH2KpG4S8jBYrhOvwbmrrV7D_DqVTw&m=MjX64CRpJ6mNM3FqFuaDPdkTJWYB9kiqP9nqPcaO0YJRBWWSZlkIztBjzdmVKbkW&s=72hSj_D_fbCmJH1_TTckYgBSn38hjHIquofnoA0q0uk&e=

*Definitely let me know if it fails.* You can also let me know if it works.

You may notice the downloads have doubled in size. It is not that ced has
expanded (it actually shrunk a wee bit), but rather the coatjava it ships
with has gorged itself on jar files.

Best,
DH
