<div>In November, the existing infrastructure for transferring files from OSG to /volatile will be deprecated.</div>
<div>We have been testing its replacement, called Pelican, and the results are successful.</div>

<div>- Pelican is only available on AlmaLinux 9 machines.</div>
<div>- This reduces the available pool of OSG resources, since older hardware does not support the x86_64-v2 instruction set.</div>

<div style="font-family: Avenir-Medium;">The transition has already started and will take a couple of days to complete.</div>

<div>- Update our Singularity container to use our new AlmaLinux base image.</div>
<div>- Update Condor requirements to include the pelican JLab authentication and x86_64-v2 support.</div>

<div>This transition should be transparent for all users, but there may be some out of sync errors due to singularity image propagation through OSG CVMFS. </div>

<div style="font-family: Avenir-Medium;">The pool of resources may decrease: very old nodes will not work for us anymore.</div>
<div style="font-family: Avenir-Medium;">The directory naming convention on /volatile will change: Instead of <b>job_9774</b>, directories will now appear as <b>9774</b>.</div>
