Subject: [Cuga] Hadronic Physics workshop- a message from Wally Melnitchouk

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to announce the workshop on

	  "Hadronic Physics with Lepton and Hadron Beams"

to be held at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility
(Jefferson Lab) in Newport News, Virginia, USA, on

		  September 5 - 8, 2017.

For further information please see the workshop website,

	https://www.jlab.org/conferences/hadrons2017/

or contact one of the organizers.

We look forward to seeing you at Jefferson Lab.

Sincerely,

Jo Dudek

Alessandro Pilloni
Marc Vanderhaeghen

Background
==========
With the commencement of operations at the 12 GeV Upgraded Continuous
Electron Beam Accelerator Facility at Jefferson Lab, and construction
under way of the new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in
Germany, a new era is opening up of high-precision experimental studies
of hadron structure and spectroscopy. This meeting will bring together
theoretical and experimental physicists from the lepton and hadron
scattering communities to discuss synergies between the programs at
these and other new facilities.

The topics covered in the workshop will include:

* meson and baryon spectroscopy;

* the quark and gluon structure of hadrons and nuclei; and

* the properties of hadrons in the nuclear medium.

Workshop
========
The workshop will consist of 4 days of morning and afternoon plenary
talks, focusing on the opportunities and challenges for hadronic
structure and spectroscopy studies at these and other modern
accelerator facilities.

On the evening of Tuesday, September 5 there will be a catered
Networking Reception at Jefferson Lab. On Thursday, September 7
there will be an informal dinner at a restaurant at the nearby
Tech Center.

Registration
============
Anyone interested in attending the workshop is invited to register
at the workshop registration page,

	https://www.jlab.org/conferences/hadrons2017/reg.html

There is no registration fee.

Lodging
=======
A block of rooms has been reserved for the workshop at the SURA
Residence Facility until August 4, 2017. Please reference the
"Hadrons Workshop" when making your reservations.
