Subject: [Int_subscribers] Joint 2010 National Nuclear Physics Summer School,
and 2010 TRIUMF Summer Institute (NNPSS-TSI)
Dear INT Subscribers,
The 2010 National Nuclear Physics Summer School (NNPSS) will be held
jointly with the TRIUMF Summer Institute (TSI) from June 21 to July 2,
2010 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, prior to the International Nuclear
Physics Conference (INPC). We invite students and postdocs within
~2 years of their PhD to take advantage of this opportunity to learn
about the broad and exciting field of nuclear physics and to meet
leaders of the field as well as their peers and future colleagues and
collaborators.
Applications can now be submitted online until March 15, 2010 at
http://nnpss-tsi.triumf.ca
The NNPSS-TSI is different from many other schools in that it provides
lectures and activities that cover the entire field of contemporary
nuclear physics; ranging from hot and dense QCD; to hadron structure;
to the physics of nuclei and nuclear astrophysics; to neutrinos and
fundamental symmetries. Particular attention is being paid to
fostering interactions between students and lecturers as well as among
the students, who come from all areas of nuclear science. This not
only helps to broaden the perspective of the new generation but also
aids in the formation of a community spirit within the field. Please
visit the NNPSS-TSI webpage for details.
We encourage all NNPSS-TSI participants to stay on for the INPC
(http://inpc2010.triumf.ca). The INPC registration fee will be waived
for all accepted NNPSS-TSI participants.
Please forward this message to the students and postdocs in your
department and group.
Looking forward to seeing you in Vancouver,
The organizing committee
Achim Schwenk
Alejandro Garcia
Dana Giasson
Sandi Miller
(nnpss-tsi at triumf.ca)
NNPSS-TSI is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the US
Department of Energy's Institute for Nuclear Theory, and TRIUMF,
Canada's National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics.
