Dear collaborators,
The deadline for the submission of the Statements of Service (SoS) is in a
about a month from now (November 30th).
Each institution has to prepare and submit TWO SoS, using the web
interface
(https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?display=admin&task=menu
<https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?display=admin&task=menu>):
one SoS for the year that is ending (2018), reporting the Service Work
that has been done in the last 12 months, and one SoS for the upcoming
year (2019), detailing the planned work for the following 12 months.
As was mentioned at the last Collaboration meeting, the CCC has
established that, starting from 2019, AT LEAST half of the Service Work
that each institution owes to the collaboration will have to come from
tasks that are included in the CLAS12 Task List.
The CLAS Chair, in collaboration with the CalCom and SWC chairs, and with
the precious help of Bryan (shiftbot) has recently updated and expanded
the Task List. The list now includes a wide variety of tasks that need to
be performed during the year 2019. The tasks cover many different aspects,
from hardware to software, from detector construction and testing to
calibration, reconstruction, analysis tools, simulation, etc. Several
tasks do not require any specific skills to start with.
You are all encouraged to check the Task List and start picking tasks for
2019.
The list can be accessed from the Hall B main page, or directly with the
link:
https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?display=admin&task=clas12tasks
<https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?display=admin&task=clas12tasks>
In order to be able to pick a task, you must first log into the web
interface. The list will be among the Menu items.
For each task, the List provides the following information:
1) Contact person: he/she will provide you all the necessary
explanations to perform the task, and will also be in charge of verifying
if the task is correctly accomplished. The contact person will receive an
automated email whenever one of the tasks under his/her responsibility is
picked.
2) Skills required in order to be able to perform the task.
3) FTEs of Service Work that the Task will provide to your
institution.
4) Deadline by which the task must be completed.
To pick a task, click on the PICK option, on the rightmost column of the
table.
Once you will have picked tasks, you can declare them in your projected
2019 SoS, using the FTEs you found in the Task List.
To help Institution Representatives to establish how many tasks their
institutions should pick, I remind the SWC rule: the expected SW that a
CLAS institution must provide each year is equal to N * 0.25 FTEs, where N
is the number of CLAS members (term+full) of the institution. So, to have
50% of the SW coming from the Task List, youll have to pick tasks worth
N*0.125 FTEs.
Please do not wait until the last minute to check the list and pick tasks!
Feel to contact me if you need clarifications about the SoSs and the SW
(silvia at jlab.org <mailto:silvia at jlab.org> ).
If instead you have questions or doubts about a specific task of the Task
List, feel free to get in touch with the task contact person to ask for
more information.
If you have technical problems dealing with the web interface or with the
Task List, email shiftbot at jlab.org <mailto:shiftbot at jlab.org> .
Best regards,
Silvia (SWC chair), Raffaella (CLAS Chair), Dan (CalCom chair), Bryan
(shiftbot)
