Hello hall and theory leaders,
An exciting mini-workshop will be presented at JLab next week and it is
something graduate students and post-docs are always asking for. Even
though it is short notice, I encourage you to please forward this mail to
respective mailing lists for your groups since many students and post-docs
are here for the summer. In the current economic environment, any help for
a student or post-doc to find a future job is vital and should be

  We are pleased to announce a special mini-workshop for graduate students
and postdocs:

"Physics Careers at HUGS 2014"
Tuesday, June 17, 2014
1:30-5:30 pm
Jefferson Lab, CC F113

This mini-workshop is part of the HUGS 2014 summer school in nuclear
physics, but open to all interested graduate students and post-docs from
the JLab community.

The workshop will present you with a perspective on academic and
non-academic careers open to you as you graduate, or look for your next
step in your post-doc career, and includes a hands-on session with
practical advice on resume and CV writing:


1:30 pm Physics Careers
John Rumble ? "Planning your career"
Vahagn Nazaryan ? "An industrial physicist point of view"
Cynthia Keppel ? "A Physics career in academia"
3:15 pm General Q&A with refreshments
4:15 pm Resume writing hands-on training

Note that participation in the hands-on resume writing session i s
restricted to students who are within one or two years from graduation,
