Dear all,

Thanks to everyone who already volunteered for the “ghost” [remote] worker shifts, but we need more help. Please let me know when you are available to cover some of these shifts. As stated below, each “ghost” shift taker should peak up the on-call cell phone from the counting room at the start of the shift and return it to the counting room at the end of the shift.

To limit travel to JLAB and access to the counting room, the best, most efficient way to cover these shifts is to take both day and swing shifts together, for as many days as you can. All the monitoring and help can be done remotely using a web browser. Attached is a short reference for web links and applications that can help to carry the duties of the “ghost” shifter.

Regards, Stepan

Dear all,

As announced before and is stated on the RG-F run wiki, starting on Tuesday, March 24, the Hall B/CLAS12 transitions to an entirely new shift schedule and shift staffing plan. We will have only an expert present in the counting room during the day and swing shifts, from 7 am to 11 pm. A new so-called worker "ghost" shifts will go into effect to help to run these single person shifts. We expect that:
- During the day, 7 am to 5 pm, the "ghost" shifter will be available in the Counting House within 15 minutes when receiving a call for assistance;
- During the evening, 5 pm to 11 pm, the "ghost" shifter can be available in the Counting House with an hour when receiving a call for assistance.

The worker "ghost" shifter responsibilities include:
1) Support the single shifter in the Counting House upon receiving a call.
2) Monitoring regularly the logbook posts, check over the data to help look for problems and issues.
3) Review the monitoring plots, should be done every 2-3 hours.
4) When issues/problems are found contact the shifter in the counting room immediately and if required interact with the detector subsystem expert to resolve the issue.

There is an on-call cell phone available for the worker "ghost” shifters. The phone number is listed on the RG-F run wiki in the “Phone numbers” table. The phone must be picked up from the counting room at the beginning of the “ghost” shift and return to the counting room at the end of the shift.

With this, we are asking from people available locally to volunteer for these shifts. Since the workload is NOT high for the "ghost" shifter, you can sign up for a full day for several days at a time (the most effective way to cover the shifts). Please let your institutional representative (ODU, CNU, WM, JLAB, and LOCALCo) or me or Bryan know which dates and hours you are available for the “ghost” shift.

Regards, Stepan (PDL)
