[clas_members] [EXTERNAL] Voting on bylaw changes tomorrow

Sorry for the "reply all" but this issue is important!

I agree with Sebastian that the appointment of a committee to judge/approve standard analysis methods SHOULD NOT be assigned to the "interested PWG".

However, I disagree that it should be the sole right and responsibility of the SOFTWARE group. Analysis procedures are broader in scope than only software issues.

I strongly feel that this responsibility for appointing the analysis approval committee should be the JOINT RESPONSIBILITY of the CLAS Coordinating Committee and the head of the Software group (unless the head of the Software group is already an official member of the CCC). These people represent ALL CLAS members who may all be authors on the papers if they opt in.

Since I had to leave the discussion on Tuesday, here is one more comment:

D2.4.e) I would STRONGLY urge that the

  1. library of the approved standard methods

be overseen by the SOFTWARE group. Assigning this responsibility to “the PWGs” will only lead to confusion who’s job it is and where to find standard methods that have been approved. (How do we know which PWG is the appropriate or “interested” one?)
