From tyson at jlab.org Mon Dec 4 14:45:26 2023 From: tyson at jlab.org (Richard Tyson) Date: Mon, 4 Dec 2023 19:45:26 +0000 Subject: [clas_members] CLAS Students & Postdocs Committee Members and Mailing List Message-ID: Dear Collaborators and especially Students and Postdocs of the CLAS collaboration, It was decided at the last collaboration meeting to have a small committee to help me in representing students & postdocs within the collaboration, helping out new members of the collaboration and with organising the student & postdoc session or other events during collaboration meetings. I asked that anyone interested get in contact with me, and so far we have: * Pierre Chatagnon (pierrec at jlab.org) as Co-Representative. In case I'm unavailable during a collaboration meeting, Pierre will take my place in running the student & postdoc session and reporting to the CCC and collaboration. We are both on site at JLab and there to help with any questions related to a stay at JLab and more general information about the collaboration. * Kayleigh Gates (k.gates.1 at research.gla.ac.uk) & Simone Vallarino (valla at jlab.org). Kayleigh and Simone are there to make sure that users are well represented within the student & postdoc meetings. As they are based in the UK and Europe they can also help with any questions about traveling to JLab from the UK/EU and vice versa. * Rhidian Williams (rhidian.williams at york.ac.uk). Rhidian will help set up and monitor an online platform for students and postdocs to have informal conversations. We felt this was important with regards to getting help and advice from peers and to have a place to reach out to other members of the collaboration when at conferences or stays at JLab. We will circulate a link to this platform on the students & postdocs mailing list (see below). If you are interested in helping out, please email me (tyson at jlab.org). Please also feel free to get in touch with any member of the committee if you have any relevant questions. Finally, can I please encourage all students and postdocs to sign up to the Clas_students_postdocs mailing list. If you are currently working with a CLAS student or postdoc please encourage them to sign up to this. The mailing list will be our main means of reaching out to other students & postdocs and to advertise the students & postdocs sessions and other events during collaboration meetings. To access the report forms, you will login at: https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php Two forms need to be filled out and submitted separately (each one selected at the first step of the service work reporting): * Report of the service work you have performed for the CLAS Collaboration in 2023 o We expect that the reported FTEs realistically reflect the total time spent on the task. For example, 0.025 FTEs means that full 40 hours in total were invested in the reported task. o *If you report a task that is on the 2023 task list, please make a note "2023 Task List, number ..." in the Documentation field of the report line. Next to "number", give the task number from the task table. *The numbering of the tasks is a new feature this year - it makes the reporting and the review of the service work more streamlined. o If you have generated any product (presentations, status update slides, technical note, timelines, etc.) on the task, please give a link to the product(s) in the Documentation field of the report line. o If you report a service task that involves any data analysis (and is not from the task list), please make a short note in the Documentation field, why this is considered service and which broader research group within CLAS benefits from the results of the study. For example: "Determination of detection efficiency for neutrons for RG-B SP2019 dataset". *Do not report analysis/systematic studies that are used only in your own research project.* o *Please keep, CLAS12 and CLAS service separated - there are two distinct tables - CLAS service is to be reported first, the CLAS12 table opens automatically next when you click "Save and go to next step".* At this time, CLAS service mostly includes**committee service and reviews of analyses and/or manuscripts on CLAS-6 data and results. * Estimation of service work you commit to perform in 2024 o If the task you commit to perform is from the 2024 task list, please make a note "2024 Task List, number ..." in the Documentation field. Next to "number", give the task number from the task table. o If you need help to identify service that you could perform, please make a selection the 2024 CLAS12 service task list at https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/index.php?display=admin&task=clas12tasks *and get in touch with the contact person for the task to get assigned to the task.* You will not be able to get the task unless you have an arrangement with the task's contact person. o If you cannot find a suitable task from the task list and are in a need to identify possible CLAS service for you, please contact me. o If you have already committed to service (run group and/or larger project) in 2024, but do not see that service in the 2024 Task List, please contact me. *The due date for SOS submission is 22 December 2023. *Late submissions are not acceptable. Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. With best regards, Yordanka -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
