RC Daily Summary Wednesday, February 22, 2023

Day Shift (Tuesday):
Planned Data taking on CH2 target, Solenoid 5.08 T, Torus inbending 3766 A.
Beam is trippy with periods of no beam that last several minutes.
MVT HV strips are tripping at a high rate. Yuri adjusts the gas flow controller. Improves, but still see some trips.
Continue to have periods with no beam.
Collected ~ 47M events.

Evening/Swing Shift
Planned Data taking CH2 target, Solenoid 5.08 T, Torus inbending 3766 A.
Beam is available most of the shift.
Collected ~87M events.

Owl Shift:
Data taking with CH2 target, Solenoid 5.08 T, Torus inbending 3766 A.

At start of shift problems with BMT Ar gas flow fraction caused BMT HV to turn off. The Ar/C4H10 gas flow restored by the shift workers using guidance from Yuri.

01:30 Beam was restored and we ran for about ~3 hours before we again had problems with the BMT Ar gas flow fraction which again shut off the BMT HV. Yuri and Denny (Engineering-on-call) were called. The problem was traced back to the C4H10 bottle running out of gas. Switched to a pre-mixed bottle and bypassed the Ar Gas Flow Fraction interlock to get CLAS12 back up and ready for beam by 07:00. Beam was not available the rest of the shift.

08:30 Switched back to unmixed gas and restored the interlocks. Still waiting for beam at 09:10.

Data taking on CH2 all day

We will have a RC meeting today at 2:15 PM after the 1:30 PM MCC meeting.
