The N* program has been a flagship program with CLAS. This article <br>
shows, on the example of the N(1440)1/2+ Roper resonance, what has been <br>
achieved from experiments and theory in unraveling the internal <br>
structure of excited nucleons. The groundwork was laid by the CLAS <br>
collaboration that generated and analyzed the experimental data needed <br>
to come to these conclusions.<br>
