Mark Ito: GlueX Calibration Database
minutes
concern was brought up about the security and gaurantees of the
dstabase, protecting from new students for instance corrupting some
tables. this can always be done with root access to the database, but
as long everyone is accessing the database via the API, everything
will be timestamped and recovery from erroneous entries becomes a
matter of getting the constants as they were at a specific time.
major change from Caldb: all the different tables that corresponded to
specific subsystems in clas (TOF time walk for example) are all in a
single table called constantSet.
Monte carlo can be tagged instead of using negative run numbers or run
number ten.
negative run numbers can still be supported in this scheme.
it was suggested that a password could be specified whena new
variation is created. This can be done in the API. After that, the
variation becomes private and is protected against others modifying
it.
