<p class=MsoNormal>As of this afternoon, I think most things we’ve tested
are working with the exception of items that depend on Pezca.pm and the
underlying EPICS distribution. Resolution of this issue has been separated into
two parts – <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>* Immediate Fix – Copying the missing shared
libraries and perl bits into a directory on claswebnew, similar to how it’s
currently installed and use LD_LIBRARY_PATH or an equivalent to allow perl to
find the EPICS shlibs.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>* Longer term – It seems sensible to consider
maintaining a current EPICS distribution in central filesystems available
throughout CUE. Ideally, we’d just put the necessary client libraries and
utilities in this area and maintain versions compatible with those in use
around the lab. It doesn’t appear that the base EPICS distribution is
divided up into a nice “client” package, so we’ll probably
need to build more of it than desired, but this may provide a good long term
solution for apps requiring CA support throughout CUE.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>My hope is to get the immediate fix working by tomorrow
morning.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Would anyone with EPICS experience be interested in building/maintaining
it on the central fileservers? <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Does anyone have any suggestions for better ways to handle
this?<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Am I being naïve? Will this be more trouble than it’s
worth?<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
