Hi again,
OK, the permissions have been altered. If you were on the list of IPs below, please make sure you see 90 databases in the output of the command:
mysql -u clasuser -h clasdb.jlab.org -e 'show databases;'
If not, please email me. Thanks,
--Johann.

P.S. On a related note, the database connection problem with the shift pages are currently being addressed.

---------- Forwarded message ----------

Hello offliners,

There a eight off-site IP addresses or subnets that have their own entry in the MySQL clasdb.jlab.org permissions tables (see below). We have already run into problems because these entries are often more restrictive than the defaults for the user 'clasuser'. Therefore, we plan on removing these entries from the permissions table. This will take place tomorrow morning on Friday August 19, 2011.

There should be no interruption in access to the database from these IP addresses during the switch, but since the permissions tables are quite messy, we can not guarantee this. I will monitor my email very closely after the change, and if its an emergency, please call me at my office or my cell phone (see my signature below). If you recognize your IP in the list, I would appreciate it if you would test accessing the database from there --- either by running user_ana/a1c or gsim or simply the following mysql command which should show 90 databases:

mysql -u clasuser -h clasdb.jlab.org -e 'show databases;'

Here is a list of the IP address that will be removed. The permissions will go back to the default for clasuser logging in from off-site. Again, we do not expect anyone on this list to experience connection problems, but I wanted to give you guys the "heads up" in case things break.
