Dear everyone,
The student / postdoc meeting will take place tomorrow in room F326/327 at
12.30pm. It's an opportunity to raise any concerns you may have, discuss
ideas for things we could do, as a student - PostDoc community of CLAS, meet
other students and postocs if you've just joined and generally have a good
natter!
Tomorrow, however, there are a number of important things to discuss
regarding possible changes to the way the collaboration functions. As most
of you know, a certain amount of Collaboration Service Work (which includes
such things as shifts, calibrations, etc) is required of everyone, and is a
pre-requisite for becoming a Term Member. There is a tentative proposal to
change the way this is assigned and carried out. Additionally, there is
discussion of changing the way in which calibrations are done -- of shifting
the responsibility from students to selected "experts". You will hear more
about these proposed changes in Ken Hicks' talk tomorrow morning.
I have been asked to discuss these proposals with you at the meeting
tomorrow -- your feedback will be reported to the CLAS Coordinating
Committee and will go to inform any decisions taken. Since these are matters
of direct concern to most students / postdocs it would be great to see
everyone who is currently in JLab, even if briefly!
Bring your lunch and ideas!
Hope to see you all tomorrow,
Daria
