I think the paper does not meet the new PRL, strict requirements. Maybe you can send the paper to Phys. Lett. or EPJ A.

Abstract: mentioning the experiment number is not interesting here, you should put the emphasis on the measured process and the physics results.

Line 183: use capital letters for ‘Monte Carlo’.

In Fig. 1 the Pb plot show broad negative counts. Is there any impact on the relevant transparency ratio?

In Figs. 2, 3 and 4 the error bars are confusing to me: I would prefer using inner error bar for statistical errors and the outer error bar for the total (systematic plus statistical added in quadrature) error. Even better, you could only show the statistical error bar on the points and add a band at the bottom of the panels representing the statistical errors.

In Fig. 4 the CLAS point for Carbon is hidden by that of CB-Elsa one. Please make it visible.

Line 278, write ‘Istituto Nazionale di Fisica …’

I think you should quote (besides ref. [3]) the recent review paper on the matter ‘Parton Propagation and Fragmentation in QCD Matter’, by A Accardi, F. Arleo, W. K. Brooks, D. D\'Enterria and V. Muccifora published on La Rivista del Nuovo Cimento [see also arXiv:0907.3534]
