Hello Dustin and Ken,
I have read your draft paper "Electromagnetic Decay of the Sigma*0 to
Lambda gamma". I think it is a well-written paper: quite dense, of
course, considering the detailed considerations of the corrections,
but I managed to hang on all the way through. OK, I did not check
every equation... Here are my few suggestions for improvements.
Introduction: You begin the paper by discussing magnetic moments.
But later in the paper you never get back to this. Tell the reader
what your result has to say about the magnetic moment of this baryon.
In fact, is there a way to convert the EM decay width into a value for
mu?
Figure 1: The reader at first can't tell which events you are
keeping. Change the last line of the caption to "Events above the
dotted line at 0.01 Gev^2 were kept."
Equation 2: employs bastard notation: either set c to 1 or don't. I
would replace m with mc. Then, 10 lines further down, replace p with
pc and m with mc^2 to be consistent.
Table III is out of order in the sense that you refer to Table IV
first.
The discussion of the uncertainty when compensating for events you lose
in doing the two confidence level cuts is something I could not
follow. Where does it state clearly how big the correction is for
events lost and recovered due to these cuts? In fact, it is not clear
to me how you did the correction, let alone how you estimated the
uncertainty on this correction.
Reference 4: update to 2010 version.
Best Regards,
Reinhard
