Hello Ken and Dustin,
Your draft paper "Transition Mangetic Moments of the Electromagentic
Decay of the Sigma* Baryons" is interested to read. I have a few
comments that I hope you can respond to.
page 3 middle: your particle ID cut seems not to be based on
Delta_TOF. Why not?
page 3 bottom: You don't address the question of combinatorics on the
pi+. Can you prove that there is no ambiguous kinematic regime where
the two pi's give you a problem separating out which is which? It's
not clear that even the kinematic fit can save you reliably.
page 4 Figure 1: What is the shoulder on the high-mass side of the
Sigma*+? It got to be a charged state... but... what is it? Whatever causes
it is a pretty big background even for the selection that you make of
the Sigma*+. Why does this background not kill your purity later in
the analysis?
page 6 Figure 3: This two-step kineamtic fittign procedure gives a
result that seems too good to be true. Was your previous result for
the neutral decay this clean?? A specific concern I have is: why
does the sum of counts in the upper histogram not equal the sum of the
two smaller histograms that result from the kinematic fitting
procedure? You seem to be rejecting a lot of background here, way
more than the 10% of your confidence level cut.
page 9 after Eq 4: Use "Using..." rather than "Plugging in..."
There are several typos throughout that you can easily correct.
That's all for now.
Best Regards,
Reinhard.
