Peter et al.,
I have read through the draft of your latest paper on the piN asymmetries for
larger Q2 and include my comments below. This paper was very enjoyable to read,
your main points clearly stated, and it was remarkably free of jargon. Nicely
done. Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Daniel
************************************************************************************
General:
- Throughout you use the words "error" and "errors" when I would prefer you use the words
"uncertainty" and "uncertainties".
- The capitalization of section and subsection headings is not done consistently in
the paper.
Page 1:
- Abstract.
- Line 2. Use "... from the scattering of 6~GeV ...".
Page 2:
- Line 25. I suggest "Beam asymmetries at large $Q^2$ for $\pi^+n$ electroproduction
from a proton target were published ...".
- Line 27. Use "... were reported from the "eg1a" and "eg1b" experiments at ..."
Page 3:
- Add a comma at the end of the last equation ($\sigma_0$) for proper punctuation.
Page 4:
- Line 49. You state at you measured ALL and AUL after defining three asymmetries in
Eq.(1). Then you add, almost parenthetically, that you did not measure ALU even
though you had the data. I think that you should make an explicit statement why
you did not measure ALU.
- Line 61. Use "The 1.5-cm-diameter target cups ...".
Page 5:
- Lines 72,73. The proper abbreviation for milliradians is "mrad" not "mr".
- Line 84. Use "Part A (early 2009) used targets centered ...".
- Line 85. Use "... upstream of the CLAS center ...".
- Line 86. Use "... 10~cm upstream to $z_0 ...".
- Line 91. This sentence, "Additional information ..." should be included in the
previous paragraph.
- Table I. Capitalize column headings.
Page 6:
- Line 106. Use "... events was subsequently ...".
Page 7:
- Line 130. Use "... small deposited energy ...".
- Line 134. Use "... requiring a deposited energy of ...".

- Line 176. Use "In the topology $ep \to e\pi^+n$, cuts on ...".
Page 10:
- Line 180. No comma after "in-plane direction".
- Line 183. Use "... compared to the peaks ...".
Page 12:
- Line 200. Use "... of the spin asymmetries ...".
Page 14:
- Add commas after Eq.(4) and Eq.(5) for proper punctuation.
- Line 206. Use "... the number of events in ...".
Page 15:
- Line 229. Use "... carbon target was about ...".
- Line 249. Use "neutron" not "neuron".
Page 16:
- Fig. 6. Please label the $Q^2$ values of the curves. I suggest adding a key and using
different color for the curves. Also, give the value of cos(th).
- Line 260. Use "... in forming the asymmetries, ...".
- Line 261. Remove the comma after "compatible".
- Line 262. Remove the comma after "asymmetries".

Either all first names or all first initials.
