Hello Meytal et al.,
I have looked over your draft CLAS paper "Probing High Momentum
Protons and Neutrons in Asymmetric Nuclei", undated, but posted around
11-20-17. I understand that you want to sent it to Nature, hence the
non-PhysRev styling. Here are my comments on the paper. Most are
about grammar and usage, but a couple relate to the description of the
analysis.
It is very nicely written, in a good, informal style. What bliss to
be able to off-load all the complicated stuff to "Online Supplementary
Materials"! The paper has not a single equation in it. I did not
look at this supplemental material.
Fig. 1 caption: Use "The electron beam travels FROM THE LEFT along
the gray pipe..." because the ininitiated viewer can't tell what she
is looking at. Also use: "TWO segmentS OF CLAS" because that is
closer to the truth.
page 2 line 5: the use of "other" seems a bit strange. How about
"various", so that the present work seems like a natural outgrowth of
the program.
page 2 line 30: delete "remarkable": let the reader judge, rather
than tooting your own horn.
page 3 line 22++: It is not clear where the quoted percentages 90%
15% 5%, and later 85% 15% come from. Are these Monte Carlo estimates
or estimates from data? How did you detmine the amount of
"contamination" and what is it?
page 3 line 55: the sentence end awkwardly. Try "...cross section).
Figure 2 shows these two..."
page 4, line 4: It's not clear where the 20% number comes from.
That's all for this round.
Cheers,
Reinhard
