Hi Deepak, John,
Just to close the loop with our discussion today about the normfac values, it appears to be driven by the SHMS matrix elements not being the correct ones. However, my version of SIMC also did not pick up the various detector position tweaks from Carlos as of July 2018.
1. The big difference is that the SHMS should be using the following forward and recon matrix elements:
shms-2017-26cm-monte_quads_p18_forward.dat
shms-2017-26cm-monte_quads_p18_recon.dat
These are specified both in shared/transp.f (forward) and shms/mc_shms_recon.f (recon). This is roughly the 0.3% difference in Q2=8 hydrogen.
2. My versions of HMS and SHMS various detector position tweak differences with respect to planned vs surveyed did not include the changes by Carlos dated last July. These tweaks account for less than 0.008%.
I did the testing in the directory that Deepak sent me to at: /work/hallc/e1206107/bhetuwal/simc_gfortran. I’ve updated this to include the new matrix elements if you wanted to run your simulations there for comparison.
