*Postdoctoral Appointee in Medium Energy Nuclear Physics, (Ref. # 21011-14)*
The IU experimental nuclear physics group has an active and diverse
program, addressing fundamental questions in nuclear and particle
physics. Group members are in lead roles in a wide range of experiments,
including investigations of the flavor and spin structure of the nucleon
using the STAR detector at RHIC, studies of parity violation in thermal
neutron-proton capture at LANSCE, neutrino measurements at Fermilab and
WIPP, and searches for electric dipole moments. Local facilities include
a 200 MeV light ion cyclotron and a low energy neutron source, which can
be used for detector development and testing. The laboratory also
provides excellent personnel infrastructure, allowing strong
participation in major off-site projects. Opportunities are available on
all major research projects.
Initial appointments as a postdoctoral research associate will be for
one year, with possible renewal for up to two additional years. A Ph.D.
in experimental subatomic physics is required. Applications for
postdoctoral positions are accepted on a continuing basis, and starting
dates can be adjusted to suit the situation of the candidates. Send
