Job description:
Nuclear Theory Group of the National Superconducting Cyclotron
Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University (MSU) anticipates a
postdoctoral research associate nuclear-reaction theory opening starting
in the fall of 2010. The successful candidate will conduct research in
nuclear reaction theory. An earlier start date in summer 2010 can be
negotiated. We expect the successful candidate to contribute to our
research efforts in direct nuclear reaction or few-hadron theory.
Applicants should have a strong research record and display significant
initiative to complement their research skills. NSCL offers an excellent
research environment, housing a forefront exotic-beam user facility and
yielding access to the MSU High Performance Computing Center.
The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal up to 4 years
contingent on job performance and available funding.
Required Education:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, or anticipate Ph.D. completion
by September 2010.

design and establish the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), a
future DOE Office of Science national user facility. FRIB will take
about a decade to build, cost approximately $550 million dollars and
adjoins the current National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory
(NSCL). NSCL is funded under a cooperative agreement with the U.S.
National Science Foundation and will continue its mission over the next
