*U.S. Ports-of-Entry Information for Foreign National JLab Users
and Employees on Non-Immigrant Visas (B-1, WB, H-1B, J-1).*
* *Security has tightened yet again at the U.S. ports-of-entry.
Foreign national employees on non-immigrant visas without
documentation (employment letters) establishing employer-employee
relationships are being turned away at U.S. ports-of-entry and not
allowed to re-enter. Foreign national users on non-immigrant visas
without documentation (invitation letters) establishing reason for
entry into the U.S. are being turned away at the ports-of-entry (a
little over a week ago one of our users from France was sent home from
the port-of-entry for this very reason - he was not carrying an
invitation letter and could not prove reason of entry to the U.S.).
In order to avoid a situation such as this at a U.S. port-of-entry,
Foreign national employees are urged to please contact the visa office
at x7687 to obtain an employment letter before traveling outside the
U.S. Foreign national users are urged to please contact your JLab
sponsor or the User Liaison Office x6388 to obtain an invitation
letter before travel to the U.S.
This is not a concern for any foreign national with a Permanent
Resident Alien card (green card).
