Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Particle Physics

The Physics Department at Indiana University invites applications for a postdoctoral position with its experimental particle/nuclear physics group. The research activities of the group focus on light quark spectroscopy with an emphasis on the search for and study of glueballs and hybrid mesons. The group is involved in several aspects of the GlueX experiment at Jefferson Lab including construction of the forward calorimeter, development of calorimeter reconstruction algorithms, and design of computationally intensive data analysis algorithms. In addition the group has recently joined the BES III experiment with the intent of studying QCD in the charmonium region.

The successful candidate will be expected to spend 50%-75% of his or her research time on software development and hardware design and construction efforts for the GlueX experiment. The remaining time will be devoted to participation in the BES III experiment. A Ph.D. in experimental high-energy or nuclear physics is required.

To apply, send a CV and statement of research interests to:

Professor Matthew Shepherd
