*How are you doing Mr. PEPPo?*

A new possible way to produce polarized positrons

Abstract:
The accelerator facility of Jefferson Laboratory (JLab) is important for
its high polarized

electron beam. With the upgrade it will be able to produce and
accelerate polarized electrons

up to 12 GeV for nuclear studies.

A future benefit could be represented by the availability of a new
source of particles: positrons.

They will help to deeply investigate the hadronic structure and
especially the Generalized

Parton Distributions (GPDs) dependence on spin and charge.

From the idea to convert electrons into positrons via two–step process,
an amazing experiment

is under construction at JLab: the PEPPo experiment.

The Polarized Electrons for Polarized Positrons (PEPPo) experiment takes
advantage from the

two polarization sensitive processes, bremsstrahlung and pair
production, to generate polarized

positrons. The energy dependence of the polarization transfer from 6.3
MeV longitudinally

polarized electrons to longitudinally polarized positrons is under concern.

Simulation, construction and characterization of the experimental
apparatus are progressing

and we will discuss the current status of the operations.
