*"Workshop on Opportunities for polarized He-3 in RHIC and EIC"*
Dates: September 28-30, 2011 (Wednesday through Friday)
Subject:
We are planning a workshop to explore the opportunities for polarized
He-3 in RHIC and EIC. The workshop is targeted at finding practical ways
of implementing and using polarized He-3 beams. Polarized He-3 beams
will provide the unique opportunity for first measurements, i.e. to a
full quark flavor separation measuring single spin asymmetries for +, -
and 0 in hadron-hadron collisions. In electron ion collisions the
combination of data recorded with polarized electron proton/He-3 beams
allows to determine the quark flavor separated helicity and transverse
momentum distributions. The envisioned primary sessions of the workshop are:
1. He-3 source
2. He-3 in Booster/AGS
3. He-3 in RHIC/EIC
4. polarimetry, low energy
5. polarimetry, high energy
6. physics with He-3 (theory and experiments in RHIC/EIC)
More information will follow soon. The workshop web site is:
