The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia is seeking a 
Research Scientist to work in the area of experimental nuclear and 
particle physics. Candidates with outstanding research potential, an 
educational vision, and with an interest in electroweak studies in 
electron-nuclear scattering are especially invited to apply. Research 
will be conducted at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility 
in Newport News, Virginia. This position will be supported by a 
Department of Energy research contract and is subject to the 
availability of funds.

Ph. D. in Nuclear Physics and at least one year of postdoctoral research 
experience or equivalent is required. Candidates must be proficient in 
the analysis of sub-atomic scattering experiments. Experience with laser 
optics and precision measurement of scattering asymmetries is preferred. 
The candidate must also be able to develop new experiments and support 
the interpretation and publication of results from existing experiments.
