Research Scientist in Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics

The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Scientist to 
work in the area of experimental nuclear and particle physics. This position will be stationed 
at the Thomas Jefferson Laboratory in Newport News, Virginia. Candidates with outstanding
 research potential, an educational vision, and whose research has an impact on our knowledge 
of the spin structure of nucleons and nuclei are especially invited to apply. This position will 
be supported by a Department of Energy research contract and is subject to the availability 
of funds. 

Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience is 
required. Candidates must be proficient in the analysis of nucleon spin asymmetry data, 
have experience with solid polarized targets and particle detectors. The candidate must 
also be able to develop new experiments and support the interpretation and publication of 
results from existing experiments.
