New Montage Now Available

Network Maintenance Set for Saturday
The CNI Networking group is planning a network maintenance period to update a key network router. Internet access from most internal JLab addresses will be down on Saturday, Aug. 18, 9-10 a.m. All internet access will be restored by 10 a.m. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.

CNI Systems Maintenance Scheduled for Aug. 21, 5-7 p.m.
The CNI group is planning a maintenance period on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 5-7 p.m. During this period, the non-Zimbra email system and the lqcdweb server will be offline for about 30 minutes. The www.jlab.org web server will also be offline for about 45 minutes in order to update and improve the system. Additionally, Windows and Linux security patches will be pushed out to all desktop systems. Plan on rebooting your desktop system when you have the opportunity in the day or two following this maintenance period. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.

Onsite Blood Drive Set for Aug. 21
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in CEBAF Center Room F113. New and repeat donors are encouraged to attend. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, contact Johnie Banks, x7539.

FedEx Shipping Notice
Federal Express is no longer making a regular daily stop at CEBAF Center. FedEx shipments should instead be left in the drop box located next to the Support Service Center, bldg. 28. Larger overnight packages may be coordinated with Shipping & Receiving personnel, x5010, daily before 3 p.m. United Parcel Service still makes regular daily stops at CEBAF Center, the ARC and Shipping & Receiving, 4-4:30 p.m.

Think Globally, Volunteer Locally for United Way Day of Caring
The deadline for volunteering for the United Day of Caring is Aug. 17. JLab volunteers will interact with and assist Veteran’s Hospital patients with setup and throughout their annual picnic for food and fun on Friday, Sept. 14. No prior experience is required, and you must have your supervisor's approval to participate. If you wish to volunteer, fill out the online form by Aug. 17. When filling out the form, under "Select Desired Project Jurisdiction," enter "Newport News"; and in the field "Enter a Specific Project from the Day of Caring Project List," enter: USO of Hampton Roads & Central Virginia, 62 Walnut Ave. Bldg 247, Langley AFB. This ensures that all JLab employees will be participating in the same event. In addition, both you and your supervisor must send an email to Joshua Cameron, jcameron at jlab.org, confirming that you will be volunteering to attend the Day of Caring on this date. Department of Energy Food Drive Ends Thursday
Thomas Jefferson Site Office staff invites JLab staffers, Users and contractors to participate in the Feds Feed Families food drive campaign. Voluntary non-perishable (non-glass) donations may be deposited in the food-donation barrels near the entrance of CEBAF Center through Aug. 16.

Studying the Quark-Gluon Plasma - Colloquium and Public Lecture
Johanna Stachel, Physikalisches Institut der Universitaet Heidelberg, will present "Studying the Quark-Gluon-Plasma in Nuclear Collisions at the LHC" in a colloquium on Wednesday, Aug. 22 in the CEBAF Center auditorium at 2 p.m.
