"Transverse Spin Effects in the Nucleon: Recent Results from Hall-A"
Kalyan Allada
Jefferson Lab
Abstract:
Transverse-spin and transverse-momentum effects in the nucleon are
observed in a variety of processes (SIDIS, Drell-Yan, hadron production
in p-p and e-p reactions etc.). Among these the electro-production
reaction provide one of the cleanest ways to probe the transverse
polarization effects in the nucleon, by measuring the single (SSA) and
double spin (DSA) azimuthal asymmetries in the semi-inclusive deep
inelastic scattering. These asymmetries provide an access to different
types of novel transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution
functions, and help in understanding the underlying phenomenon at
partonic level using different theoretical formalisms. I will talk about
some of these effects with a focus on recent results from Hall-A
transversity experiment, and also discuss some high precision
measurements planned for the future in Hall-A.
