INT Workshop on Nuclear Structure and Dynamics at Short Distances
February 11-22, 2013
R. Ent, G. A. Miller, M. Sargsian, J. P. Vary
Dear Colleagues,
Recently there has been significant experimental progress in observing the effects
of two-nucleon correlations, in studying quasi-elastic scattering by nuclei at large
Bjorken x, and in detailing the nuclear dependence of deep inelastic lepton scattering.
In particular, quantitative relationships have been found between these apparent
disconnected processes that point to a local density short-range nuclear effect.
Given the recent progress in theoretical nuclear studies
ranging from ab-initio and modern structure calculations, lattice calculation of
nuclear interactions to high energy approaches of description of quark-gluon structure of
nuclei we plan to have two-week INT activity on February 11-22, 2013 to bring hadronic
physics and nuclear structure communities together, to propel a better theoretical
underpinning of the hadron and quark/gluon descriptions of these experimental phenomena.
During these two weeks we plan to address the main topics including:
- EMC effect
- Probing Short Range Correlations in Nuclei
- Theoretical foundation of nuclear medium modifications
- Quark-Gluon degrees of freedom and ab-initio calculations
- New generation of experimental studies of nuclear structure
If you are interested in attending the workshop please visit the workshop
web page at http://www.int.washington.edu/PROGRAMS/13-52w/ ,
where you can also fill out the on-line application and inquire about local support.
Please note that the number of attendees is restricted and your early responses
will be greatly appreciated.
Yours Sincerely
