Dear Users Group,

While I'm already slightly behind schedule, my plan is to send out
occasional emails to the Users Group to provide useful updates and
information to the community. Here's the first one:

* With new DOE travel regulations, many of you need to submit travel for
approval well in advance of the meeting dates, and many labs are asking
for projected travel over the entire year.

So let me remind people that Mark Manley and I are trying to keep a list
of conferences that are relevant to the JLab community at:
   http://cnr2.kent.edu/~manley/BRAGmeetings.html

Please let me know if there are meetings planned for FY14 that are not yet
on the list. Advertising your meeting in advance will make it easier for
people to travel, especially from the labs, and I also highly recommend
that you work on inviting speakers and notifying the community as early as
possible, even though many people will have to wait until the last minute
to formally register.

* Did you know?
Typically both senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students (US
citizens) are eligible to apply to the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Program (GRFP). For the DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship Program
(SCGF), graduating seniors and first/second year graduate students can be
eligible. The Deadlines are in Early November (NSF) and early January
(DOE).

John Arrington,
on behalf of the Users Group Board of Directors

p.s. Please let me know (johna at anl.gov) if you find these useful, or if
you have information that you would like see shared in a future email.
