"A Plague of Field Emission - 17.3 years of CEBAF experience"
Jay Benesch, Jefferson Lab
Abstract
RF fault data spanning the period Jan. 30, 1995 to May 18, 2012 has been
re-analyzed. The talk will begin with a discussion of the relevance to
users. The simple physics model used in the analysis will follow.
Statistical analysis of the first injector cavity is briefly used to
illustrate technique since my May 23, 2012 pizza seminar covered this in
more detail (
http://www.jlab.org/user_resources/pizza_seminars/2011/Benesch_5_12.pdf
). The current status of the models and RF capacity is presented.
Effects of spontaneous new emitters; uncontrolled (Isabel) and
controlled 300K cycles; and helium processing are shown. Finally,
projected energy reach in the next few years is summarized in a graph

a tech note Arne and I issued Oct. 15, 2012. While it will not be
discussed, a derivative TN issued Feb. 8, 2013 may also be of interest:
