Dear Users Group,

Below are a few quick updates I wanted to pass along. As usual, feel
free to share them with anyone who might be interested, and let me know
if there is other information that would be useful for the users.

*JLab Alumni Group:* We have new linkedin and facebook groups that JLab
users and alumni can join; a first step in providing connections with
current and former JLab staff, users, postdocs, and students. Search
for "Jefferson Lab Alumni Group" under either facebook or linkedin, and
feel free to point former users who you think might be interested in
staying in touch or acting as a mentor to students and postdocs at the lab.

*DNP Executive Committee:* A quick reminder that elections for the DNP
executive committee are currently underway. Since emails with
instructions and your ballot ID were sent out shortly before the
Thanksgiving holiday, you may have missed it.

*Hadronic Physics Meetings*: Mark Manley and I are trying to maintain a
complete list of workshops and conferences relevant to JLab users:

http://cnr2.kent.edu/~manley/BRAGmeetings.html

In particular, note that the APS Topical Group on Hadronic Physics will
meeting in Baltimore just before the April APS meeting. If you have
students or postdocs attending the APS, we encourage you to have them
come a couple days early for the GHP meeting. The cost is minimal, and
the talks provide a broad but detailed view of hadronic physics, which
we believe is extremely valuable for younger scientists working at JLab
and other hadronic physics facilities.

Also, of course, the JLab Users Meeting on June 1-3. Please send me
your ideas for outside or keynote speakers for the Meeting, as we have
to contact these speakers earlier. Any other ideas for making the
meeting more useful are also welcome!

*JSA Initiative Fund:* Many new and returning proposals were approved by
the JSA program committee. A few upcoming deadlines and new proposals
are mentioned below. For a full list, see:
http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IFProjects.html

* The JSA is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Outstanding Nuclear
Physicist Award to be presented at the Annual Users Group Meeting in
June at the Jefferson Lab. Deadline for submissions is February 2, 2015.
See details and poster at: http://www.jsallc.org/IF/15ONPAward.html

* The JSA dissertation award and Postdoc research prize will both have
deadlines early in 2015. Keep an eye out for the detailed announcements...

* New proposals were approved to provide travel support for users making
visits to Capitol Hill as part of the Nuclear Physics Day visits,
support for a JLab Science Colloquium Series (to support JLab-themed
colloquia at institutions which may not have a regular colloquium
series), and a new International Fellowships for HUGS. Again, keep an
eye out for details on these programs.

Best Regards,

John
