International Workshop on Physics Opportunities
at an ElecTron-Ion Collider
(POETIC V)
Yale University, 22 26 September 2014
We are pleased to announce that POETIC V, the International Workshop on
the "Physics Opportunities at an ElecTron-Ion Collider" will take place
at Yale University in New Haven, CT from Monday, September 22nd to
Friday, September 26th 2014. The meeting will be held in the lecture
hall of the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History.
The primary goal of this workshop is to continue the advancement of the
field of electron-ion collider physics, following earlier workshops in
this series at Stellenbosch, Bloomington, Valparaiso, and Jyvaskyla.
While the central theme of the workshop will be the physics of a future
electron-ion collider, the workshop will also cover strongly-related
physics in the CEBAF, RHIC, and LHC experimental programs. The workshop
will aim primarily at developments on the theory/phenomenology side, but
the latest accelerator and experimental developments of interest will
also be reviewed.
The workshop will cover topical issues at the frontiers of hadron
structure and explore outstanding open questions. Topics discussed
will include QCD at high parton densities and small-x evolution,
complementarity between e+A and p+A physics, the properties of
colored probes in cold and hot nuclear matter, helicity distributions,
transverse momentum dependent (TMDs) and generalized parton
distributions (GPDs), multi-parton correlations, physics beyond the
Standard Model, connections to other areas in physics, and novel
theoretical developments.
The workshops website can be found at http://rhig.physics.yale.edu/poetic.
More detailed information will be provided in a second circular later
this year.
