May 28 Briefs Excerpts:
Part of Lawrence Drive to Become One-Way Only
Jefferson Lab and the School Bus Depot will be sharing the Hogan Drive entrance with the new Tech Center at Oyster Point Market Place development that is currently being constructed between Hogan Drive and Oyster Point Road. To accommodate this additional traffic on Hogan Drive, the developer is going to add a new entry and exit turn lane, as well as a road divider on Hogan Drive. These changes make it necessary to convert the north end of Lawrence Drive to a one-way street.
The one-way street will start at the intersection of Lawrence Drive and Hofstadter Road and will continue to Hogan Drive. Those traveling north on Lawrence Drive will be required to turn onto Hofstadter Road to exit the lab. The use of Hofstadter Road will also be required when leaving the Applied Research Center and Support Services Center parking lots if you wish to exit the lab using Hogan Drive.
The one-way conversion of Lawrence Drive will occur on June 15. Awareness signs will be posted around the affected area to provide proper notification of the change.
Hogan Drive Roadwork
Next week, the installation of a sewer pipe for the Tech Center at Oyster Point development will begin under Hogan Drive near the intersection at Lawrence Drive. The installation process will use an underground boring technique, so the work should have no impact on lab operations or access to Hogan Drive. However, drivers are urged to use extra caution on Hogan Drive throughout the roadwork. The work is scheduled to being Tuesday or Wednesday, June 3-4.
Short Phone Outages on Saturday, May 31
On Saturday, May 31, 8 a.m.-noon, there will be short (15-minute) rolling phone outages in these locations: ARC, Support Service Center, CEBAF Center, Experimental Equipment Lab, Test Lab, TED Building, Building 19 (Forestry Building), Building 57, Hall D Counting House, and the Counting House (Building 97). This work will provide a backup router for the phones. In addition, there will be a brief network outage in the TED building while the network switches are updated with new code. This outage will affect both phones and computers. If you have any questions or concerns about this work, contact the IT Division Helpdesk, x7155.
Jefferson Lab Spam and Virus Filter Software Changing
On June 17, the CNI group will migrate from the current spam and virus solutions to an updated environment. This environment is expected to provide better spam- and virus-blocking capabilities, while also providing a local (at Jefferson Lab) User Spam Quarantine server. The group is planning to provide user training a week or so prior to the migration. Watch for additional announcements as the time approaches.
