*Jefferson Lab EIC Physics Group Leader*

Dear Colleague,
For several years, Jefferson Lab efforts in developing the physics case
for an Electron Ion Collider and the detector concepts have been led by
Rolf Ent. With the recent endorsement of an Electron-Ion Collider by the
NSAC's Long-Range Planning efforts, the EIC effort will enter a new
phase as we move towards its realization. With a view to this phase we
have sought a physicist who could be dedicated to this leadership. After
an extensive search we are pleased to announce that Rik Yoshida will
join us.

Rik is currently Deputy Division Leader of the High Energy Physics
Division at Argonne National Lab. He has extensive collider physics
experience. In particular, for many years Rik was a member and
eventually spokesman of the Zeus Experiment at HERA. More recently he
has helped to lead ANL efforts on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. He
has also served on several committees guiding these endeavors. Rik
Yoshida is excellently suited to lead the Jefferson Lab EIC physics and
detector efforts; we are delighted that he will start on March 1, 2016.

Please join us in welcoming Rik.

Mont
