January 21 Briefs Excerpts: 

Volunteers Needed for Science Bowls on Feb. 7 and March 7 
The 2015 National Science Bowl season is right around the corner, and Jefferson Lab's Science Education team is seeking volunteers to help with the two tournaments that will be held at the lab in February and March. The Virginia Regional High School Science Bowl is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, and the Virginia Regional Middle School Science Bowl will follow on Saturday, March 7. More than 50 volunteers will be needed to run each event. Most of the volunteers perform as competition moderators, rules and scientific judges, timekeepers and scorekeepers during the morning, round-robin sessions. A smaller number of volunteers are needed to run the afternoon double-elimination matches, be the on-site scientific judge who is called when a student challenges a question or answer during the competition, or help with administrative tasks and the Stay All Day Contest held in the afternoon in the Support Service Center (Building 28) classrooms. Anyone interested in more information or in volunteering may see the link below or contact Jan Tyler. Volunteers may also sign up online for one or both events; morning shifts are 8:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m., the entire day includes 8:15 a.m.-3 p.m.

A Cookie for Your Thoughts at Quark Cafe on Jan. 21 and 22 
The Quark Cafe staff is conducting its annual survey, Jan. 21-22, to assess the Jefferson Lab community's feelings about a range of cafeteria services. Fill out a survey, express your opinion and receive a free cookie. The survey form will be available in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch on Thursday, Jan. 22. 

Red Cross Blood Drive Scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place Tuesday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in CEBAF Center room F113. New and repeat donors are encouraged to attend. All those who donate will be entered into a drawing for prizes from the American Red Cross. To schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code: TJNAF.
