The 2nd announcement of the SNP School 2015
========================================
*School Website:
http://lambda.phys.tohoku.ac.jp/snpsc2015/
We are pleased to announce that the SNP School 2015 will take place on
the campus of Tohoku University, Sendai from September 3rd to 5th ,
2015. This school is the fourth school of a series of SNP schools
2012, 2013 and 2014. This year, the school is organized as the
pre-conference event of the 12th International Conference on
Hypernuclear and Strange Particle Physics (HYP2015) to be held at
Tohoku University from September 7th to 12th. We encourage young
scientists who intend to participate in HYP2015 to join also the SNP
School 2015 and to present their research at the young researchers’
session.
Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University hosts the SNP School in
close cooperation among ELPH of Tohoku Univ., RCNP of Osaka Univ.,
SPIRE Field 5, Nishina Center of RIKEN, ANPhA, Advanced Science
Research Center (ASRC) of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), J-PARC
center of JAEA/KEK and grant-in-aid for scientific research on
innovative areas “Nuclear matter in neutron stars investigated by
experiments and astronomical observations.”
The school will have a series of lectures and topical talks on the
strangeness nuclear physics as well as the hadron physics in general
which should play central roles in the 21st century nuclear physics
research at accelerator facilities including hadron machines such as
J-PARC (Japan), FAIR project at GSI (Germany), electron machines as
CEBAF at Jefferson Lab (USA), MAMI-C at Mainz Univ. (Germany) and ELPH
at Tohoku Univ. (Japan) etc. in the world. Lectures by leading
physicists will overview the related subjects both from experiment and
from theory. Topical talks on recent progress and future prospects of
the fields, and presentations by the participants will be also
arranged.
It is our intention to establish a new tradition of the school and
develop it as an opportunity to foster active young physicists in wide
fields of nuclear and related physics to be pursued around J-PARC in
the future. Therefore the participants of the school are assumed to be
graduate students and young scientists who have strong motivation to
carry out the future nuclear physics research. Together with lecturers
who are leaders in these fields, senior participants are also welcome
to vitalize the school.
Scheduled Lectures
I. Bombaci (Pisa)
“Strangeness in Neutron Stars”
L. Fabbietti (Tech. Univ. Munich)
"Vector meson properties in mater and chiral symmetry restoration"
H. Hama (ELPH-Tohoku)
“Accelerators and Physics in ELPH”
T. Mart (Indonesia)
“Strangeness electro-/photo-production””
S.Sawada (J-PARC)
“Strangenss/Hadron physics programs at J-PARC”
The school will be held at the Aoba Science Hall in the Aobayama
campus of Tohoku University (Sendai, Miyagi pref.). The city of Sendai
with a population of one million is the center of the northern part of
Japan, “Tohoku District”. It is located about 350 km north of Tokyo
and can be accessed in 1 hour and 45 minutes by the super-express
train (Tohoku Shinkansen). We are planning to visit an electron
accelerator facility at ELPH-Tohoku with a lecture as a part of the
SNP School 2015.
The school will welcome a maximum of approximately 50 graduate
students and young scientists from all over the world both in
experiments and in theory. Though budget is quite limited but
participants have a chance to have financial support for their local
expenses during the school. Deadline of application is the end of
June, 2015. In addition, the organizers strongly advise the persons
who need a visa to enter Japan, to contact the organizer as soon as
possible, since the issuance of a visa may take a long time.
The school will organize special sessions to give a chance of
presentation for participants. We encourage young scientists to
present their research in the school and enjoy lectures.
Application and Selection of participants:
Application form can be submitted from the SNP school 2015 homepage.
The registration fee is 5,000 yen (only cash will be accepted at the
registration desk) which includes coffee, refreshments and the welcome
reception. The registration fee of the SNP School 2015 will be
exempted for the participants who registered the HYP2015 conference
(HYP2015 registration fee covers the SNP School 2015, too).
Selections of participants (students and post-docs) and financial
support for them will be performed based on research interest,
activities, abstract of the presentation. Graduate students are
requested to attach a one-page recommendation letter provided by the
supervisor to be attached to the application form. All young
participants are expected to present his/her activities by poster or
oral sessions during the school. Please give a title and one-page
abstract which will affect the decision of financial support. Deadline
of application/registration is the 7th of July, 2015 however later
registration results in less chance for financial support. We
encourage earlier registration for participants who want to have
financial support.
Accommodation:
Participants who attend the HYP2015 conference are expected to
arrange their hotels through the HYP2015 hotel booking page (JTB) from
the HYP2015 registration page.
The hotel booking page in the SNP School 2015 registration page is
only for the participants who attend only the SNP School 2015. If you
have any question about hotel arrangement, please contact the
organizer.
