November 5 Briefs Excerpts:
Pressure Systems Program Changes for Those Who Operate, Repair or Design Pressure or Vacuum Systems
The Pressure and Vacuum Systems Safety Program (Chapter 6151 in the ES&H Manual) has undergone a significant revision in order to work more efficiently and incorporate "lessons learned" from incidents both at Jefferson Lab and elsewhere. This revised program, along with the closely associated and recently revised "Welding and Brazing Supplement", will be launched starting Nov. 9 by making the new documentation available at the ES&H Manual website for reading: https://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/index.html
Additionally, the Pressure and Vacuum Systems Hazard Awareness training module SAF130A has been updated to reflect the revised program. All those who were trained prior to Dec. 15, 2014, must retake this class before Dec. 14, 2015. The on-line refresher version is now available online. Those that require the training but have never taken it can sign up for the classroom course (linked in the full memo). A more extensive email outlining detailed plans and timelines for full implementation of this revised program and the associated required training will be sent to those who are currently trained in Pressure and Vacuum Systems Hazard Awareness. The full memo includes links to the on-line refresher and the classroom course registration, and it can be accessed here: https://www.jlab.org/memo/pressure-systems-program-changes-those-who-operate-repair-or-design-pressure-or-vacuum-systems
