First Circular

We are pleased to invite you to LC2016, the Light Cone 2016 Conference, which will be held at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, in the period from September 5th to 8th, 2016.

The conferences of the Light-Cone series are held each year under the auspices of the International Light Cone Advisory Committee (ILCAC) (http://www.ilcacinc.org). Their main objective is to provide a yearly update of the knowledge in light-front theory and its applications, in particular in hadron and nuclear physics, as well as of current developments in related experimental areas.

The scientific program will include invited and contributed talks, whose selection will be guided by the Scientific Advisory Committee and by the ILCAC, as well as poster sessions. The main topics of the program are:

o New frontiers and challenges in experimental hadron physics
o Light-Front Field Theory in QCD and QED
o Non-perturbative methods in Quantum Field Theory
o Lattice Gauge Theories
o Relativistic models for hadrons and nuclei
o Few-body problems on the Light Cone

To register, and for further continuously updated information, please visit our conference website,
http://www.lc2016.net/

The conference proceedings will be published in Few-Body Systems.

We hope to see you in Lisbon this fall!

VENUE

The Conference venue is at IST Campus Alameda, Avenida Rovisco Pais, 1 — 1049-001 Lisboa. A map of the campus can be found at
 http://tecnico.ulisboa.pt/img/sobre-IST/mapa-site-ist-EN.png.

The Lecture Hall is located in the Complexo Interdisciplinar, a building very close to the West entrance of the campus, with a stairway connection to RuaAlves Redol. It is indicated by the number 26 on the map.

The IST Alameda campus lies in the cosmopolitan heart of Lisbon, within a 10 minutes taxi ride from Lisbon airport, and well served by the Lisbon bus and metro networks, connecting the campus to museums and neighborhoods of cultural and social interest. In the vicinity of the campus there are several hotels within walking distance, as well as restaurants and cafes.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The conference organization relies heavily on the conference fee. As a rule, we cannot waive payment of the fee, including for participants with invited talks. However, we are aware of the fact that some colleagues will not be able to attend the conference without receiving some form of assistance. We expect to be able to provide financial support to a limited number of participants, especially to students and younger researchers. If you wish to apply for support, please do so as soon as possible.

McCARTOR FUND FELLOWSHIP

The Gary McCartor Fellowship Program was created in 2008 in memory of Gary McCartor, a leading physicist in the field of light-cone physics. The McCartor Fund is dedicated to assisting promising young scientists in pursuing light-front related research. In the past, the McCartor Fund has bestowed travel awards to a number of young scientists, providing them with the means to attend and present their research at the annual Light Cone conferences. We will continue this tradition with LC2016. Please visit the ILCAC webpage for further information (http://www.ilcacinc.org).
