Volunteer Now for Jefferson Lab Open House on April 30!
Jefferson Lab will hold an open house on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The event is an opportunity for people of all ages to spend the day exploring this world-class research facility. Volunteers will fill a wide range of roles - from interactive roles requiring specialized knowledge to guiding the flow of pedestrian traffic. You can work the entire event (eight hours), or a four-hour morning or afternoon shift. To volunteer, you can sign up online: www.jlab.org/openhouse/volunteer
Notice to All Radiation Workers
As a radiation worker with a dosimeter, Jefferson Lab annually provides you with a written dose report. You should have received an email with your 2015 dose report attached. If you did not receive an email or you noticed an error on your report, the Radiation Control Department requests that you notify Becky Mosbrucker at becky at jlab.org or call 757-269-7236. As a reminder, if you are monitored for radiation exposure at another institution, it is your responsibility to inform the Jefferson Lab Dosimetry Office by contacting Becky Mosbrucker.
Professional Development Lunch and Learn Offered April 5
The Training and Performance Office is sponsoring a "Dale Carnegie" Lunch and Learn on Professional Development.The training session will be held on April 5 in CEBAF Center, room F113, from noon-1 p.m. Feel free to bring your lunch and join the discussion. This training is informal, is open to all employees, is free to attend, and no registration is required. The one-hour course will cover the topics of improving communication, building self-confidence, strengthening people skills, controlling worry and stress and mastering leadership skills. Enrollment Deadline for Excel and PowerPoint Training Is March 25
Excel and Powerpoint courses have been scheduled for the week of May 23. Each class will be one day, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m, in SSC room 47 and is $175 (which may be less, based on participation). If you are interested, complete a Job-Related Training (JRT) form and send to training at jlab.org by close of business on Friday, March 25. More information about the class offerings and details needed for the JRT form can be found on Insight in the Employee Connections section under Upcoming Training Opportunities.
Jefferson Lab Community Invited to Retirement Reception for Dave Kausch on April 4
The Jefferson Lab community is invited to a retirement reception for Dave Kausch. Dave has worked in Facilities Management & Logistics (formerly Plant Engineering) for 21 years. He started as the lab's Fire Protection Engineer and also became responsible for the fixed cranes. Dave has led the development of the lab's Fire Protection and Material Handling programs to their current state. The reception will take place 2:30-4 p.m. on Monday, April 4, in CEBAF Center room F113. Come for cake, refreshments, and memories as we recognize Dave for his many years of service to the lab. If you cannot attend but would like to sign a framed photo or have questions, contact Rebecca Yasky, x7507 or ryasky at jlab.org.

JSA Offers Sabbatical and Research Leave Support at Jefferson Lab
JSA is now accepting applications for the JSA/JLab Sabbatical and Research Leave Support Program for the 2016-2017 academic year, with support beginning as early as summer 2016. The program is funded by the JSA Initiatives Fund. Application materials for the program are due by March 31. If you have any questions about the program, contact Elizabeth L. Publications Refresher Course Offered March 28
Curious about the Department of Energy's Public Access Plan and how it affects Jefferson Lab? Attend the next Publications Training and Refresher course to be held on Monday, March 28, at 9 a.m. in CEBAF Center room F224-225. In addition to a brief introduction to the public access plan, authors will learn how to submit manuscripts to the Publications Review and Approval System, how to make recommended revisions to papers during the signature process, and how to add the relevant information once the paper is published. Plan to attend and R.S.V.P. to Kim Edwards at kindrew at jlab.org by Friday, March 25.
