April 26 Briefs Excerpts:

12 GeV Upgrade Update
Following the successful completion of the Hall C Key Performance Parameter beam run, staff and Users are analyzing the data taken to understand the performance of the new detectors. Efforts include drift chamber timing calibrations, analysis software improvements, and scrutiny of pulse-height distributions from the photomultiplier-based detectors. The energy resolution of the Super High Momentum Spectrometer calorimeters has already been shown to be at least as good as predicted when they were designed. Counting rates observed in all detectors are helping to determine whether additional shielding might be useful. The 12 GeV Project team continues to prepare for the upcoming DOE SC OPA Review.

JSA Minority/Female Undergraduate Research Assistantship Now Taking Nominations
Jefferson Lab is seeking nominations of minority or female undergraduate physics students from accredited universities for a research assistantship for the 2017-2018 academic year. The assistantship provides students an opportunity to work on science and engineering projects related to the lab's research. Students must be nominated by a faculty member. The nomination deadline is Wednesday, May 31. This project is supported by the JSA Initiatives Fund program. For eligibility and nomination requirements, see the full posting: https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/admin/HR/research/

Reminder: Jefferson Lab Travelers and Travel Coordinators: New System Debuts May 1
The Travel Services and MIS departments are excited to announce the implementation of the Electronic Expense Report (EER) system, which will debut May 1. All travelers are welcome to attend a training session for the new system, which is set for April 28 at 10 a.m. in CEBAF Center room L102. The training session will focus on the entire EER process, and it is geared toward Travel Coordinators and travelers who prepare their own expense reports. Note: If your expense reports are prepared by a Travel Coordinator, you will begin receiving emails for your review of expense reports via the EER system (requiring electronic approval or rejection), starting May 1. If you have questions related to travel or the EER system, contact Jenita Everett at x7438. The link provides an example of the email that you will receive and a sample expense report: https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/cfo/travel/Traveler%20Information.pdf
