January 18 Briefs Excerpts:

Jefferson Lab Entrance at Rattley Road Closed for Construction on Saturday, Jan. 21

Commuters may access Lawrence Drive via Hogan Drive or Jefferson Ave. Traffic exiting the lab will need to leave through the Lawrence/Jefferson Ave. exit. See the full announcement for a map of detour routes and open entrance/exit routes. If you have any questions about this road closure, contact Bob Sperlazza at x6241 or sperlazz at jlab.org.

Quark Cafe Update
The subcontract with Eurest for cafeteria, on-site catering and vending services has been extended to March 30. Until then, current service levels and pricing will remain unchanged. Jefferson Lab is in the process of evaluating proposals for services to start on April 3. Once that contract is awarded, any service changes that diners can expect under the new contract will be announced. Keep in mind that due to a DOE policy change, the laboratory will no longer subsidize these services, so changes to menu selection and pricing are likely. The transition between contracts will also likely require a break in cafe services, with no cafe or catering service offered on Friday, March 31.

Jefferson Lab Travelers and Travel Coordinators: Critical Foreign Travel Suspense Dates
As required by the contract, this is a reminder that all foreign travel requests are to be submitted to DOE at least 30 days prior to travel through the Foreign Travel Management System (FTMS). Only in extenuating circumstances are we to submit a request within 30 days of departure. However, be aware, that there is no guarantee of approval, as it is DOE’s prerogative to deny, without justification, any late requests.

Update: Travel to France
Travel to or through France requires strict adherence to the requirements implemented by the U.S. State Department in 2016. As a reminder, all transportation details (including ground transportation) are required to be reported for both business and personal days to, from, or within France (Train, Bus, Rental Car, Flights, etc.). Subsequent to the initial guidance, DOE is now permitting Jefferson Lab on-site DOE Counter Intelligence Security Officers to conduct the briefings, prior to departure, for travelers staying 10 days or longer. This replaces the need to schedule an appointment in Paris. Failure to follow the requirements or provide the requested information could result in denial of country clearance and jeopardize future travel. Visit the Jefferson Lab Travel - Foreign Travel webpage for posted information: https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/cfo/travel/foreign.html

Jefferson Lab Travelers: Check Your Itineraries for Errors
All travelers are asked to review travel itineraries regularly to ensure arrangements are done correctly to avoid increased and potentially unallowable costs. Pay special attention to dates of travel, reservations and destinations in the review.
