March 8 Briefs Excerpts:
Hall D Update
The first physics run of the GlueX experiment is progressing in Hall D, as planned. About 50 billion events have been recorded so far. During the remaining two weeks of beam, it is expected to accumulate more data as well as perform various specialized measurements needed for the GlueX physics program.
Limited Access to CEBAF Center F-Wing First Floor on March 11-12
This coming weekend, Warwick Plumbing & Heating subcontractors will be spraying foam in the Data Center as part of the Utilities Infrastructure Modernization (UIM) Data Center Upgrade project. There will be limited access on the first floor F-wing hallway on Saturday, March 11, due to spray foam hoses. Additionally, a slight odor will be present inside the Data Center likely throughout the weekend (the space will be ventilated for 24 hours after foam is sprayed). It's recommended that staff and Users avoid the first floor of the F-wing over the weekend. If you have any questions or concerns about this work, contact Michele Solaroli, x7751.
Food Services Subcontractor Update
The transition of the food services subcontract from Eurest to Elite Management Group is underway. The first meeting between the lab and the new subcontractor was held last Friday to begin the process. Elite will assume operations on April 3, and the subcontractor plans to continue menus and offerings similar to what we currently enjoy through the month of April, with the goal of a grand reopening of the Cafe on May 1. More details will be shared as the process unfolds and plans are finalized. Questions may be directed to Staff Services Manager and SOTR, Cynthia Lockwood, at lockwood at jlab.org or x7389.
