Site-Wide Alert Text Messages Will Now Come from 215 Area Code
The IT Division’s Telecom group recently obtained a new texting service from Verizon. Using this service will allow Telecom to send text messages to mobile phones without needing to know the service provider of the recipient. While much of this change will be invisible to text message recipients, the messages will now come from phone number (215) 970-0778, and the message will be prefixed with "JLAB:". Previously, most people received the texts from "guard-alert at jlab.org" or "sitewide-alert at jlab.org”. The new service will be tested on Friday morning when the monthly Tornado Siren Test notification is sent out.

Reminder: Contact Staff Services for Work Events Requiring Food Service
If you require food and/or beverage service for any work-related event, contact Staff Services at staffservices at jlab.org as early as possible in your event-planning process. Jefferson Lab has a contractual obligation with the new food service subcontractor, eLITE Management Group, that gives the subcontractor exclusive rights to provide catering service on-site. This is the same requirement that the lab had in place with the previous subcontractor. Staff Services can provide specific guidance on the wide range of options available and order your selections for your conference, meeting or workshop.

New SOTR Training Offered on Friday, May 5
A Jefferson Lab training session for new Subcontracting Officer Technical Representatives (GEN020) will take place on Friday, May 5, 8 a.m.-12 noon in Room 53 of the Support Service Center. Participants can register by COB on Thursday in Jefferson Lab's Learning Management System. Rhyme Time: Submit Silly Verse About Your Work for Limerick Day!
Jefferson Lab is celebrating National Limerick Day on May 12 by publishing limericks relating to our science and technologies or life at the lab. The best limericks submitted by the Jefferson Lab community will be posted to social media with attributions to the authors. The top employee limerick will receive a $50 employee recognition award. If you would like to participate, email your name, job title and home division with your entry to jlabinfo at jlab.org by COB Tuesday, May 9. Multiple entries are allowed and anonymous entries (not eligible for prize) may be left in the slot at CEBAF Center room C226. The Jefferson Lab IT Division has developed a survey to learn about the lab's usage of IT resources and the support that division staff members are providing. The survey was emailed to all members of the lab community on May 2. The email contains your unique link to the survey. A final reminder will be emailed to anyone who has not completed the survey prior to the closing date.
